Michael Franks at Blue Note TOKYO
A precious moment...

Watching the great and legendary Michael Franks on stage, in a rare appearance
in Japan, at Blue Note Tokyo, is surely a lucky and precious moment. Mostly when the fragile Franks
moves us with its beautiful 70’s hits Lady wants to know or Mister Blue. On stage, with its rich, clear and unique voice, Michael Franks knows
how to touch us. While on stage, Veronica Nunn (vocal), the genius Chris
Hunter (sax and flute), Jay Anderson (bass) or Charles Belenzing (piano),
are establishing themselves as a formidable presence. Michael Franks combines
his romantic and sensual senses with his deep passion for some warm Brazilians
rhythms – and for Antonio Carlos Jobim. Naturally, Brazil is again the
guest in Franks’s new album, Rendez-vous in Rio, which proceeds from the pleasant to the best and tells us again why Franks
is still, today, thirty years after his debut, the possessor of one of
the most outstanding jazzy style. |
